1. Plan out a long weekend
Who says a vacay has to be long? Skip the Monday blues by taking a long weekend. That extra day (or two) can give you enough time to get that little getaway you need. Check out on Friday, come back refreshed on Tuesday. Boom. You did it. Your coworkers will be daydreaming about the weekend on Friday and wishing it were the weekend on Monday, while you actually went out and did something amazing. 2. Go through old travel pictures
Going through your old travel pictures may make you nostalgic and want to travel more, but it can also make you appreciate the adventures you have had. Feeling those feels again can encourage you to take more of an initiative to plan another trip.

Road trips can be are an affordable way to travel compared to flights. Find an interesting destination nearby you hit the road, jam some tunes, and check out that change of scenery. A cool museum, nature, historical site, the state capital, the options for destinations are endless!

Live in a city or neighborhood, but tend to stay in your bubble? Check out the other areas! Each city, suburb, or town has its own unique characteristics. Go ahead, check it out. You may find yourself a new fav local spot.

Sometimes the idea of traveling is more expensive than you think it is. Check out what destinations are affordable to visit and check out when to go to get the best bang for your buck. You may able to take that cool trip after all! Here are some other factors to consider while traveling.

Sometimes all you need is a little trip to the city. Check-in for a thriving pace, culture, attractions… you get it. Maybe it’s a smaller city? Maybe it’s a bigger city? Check it out and enjoy.

I often find that when friends come to visit, that’s when you search for fun, exciting, and touristy things to show them the city. Their exploration and vacation mentality rubs off on you. Don’t be afraid to be a tourist in your own city! Visiting friends living that tourist life helps you to do the same.
8. Look up unique things to do in your area
Don’t get stuck in a rut that there’s isn’t anything to do. Check out things to do that are unique to your area. Does your area have the largest cheese wheel in the country? Cool! Cool? I dunno, but check it is worth checking out.
9. Take a hike or nature walk
Nothing hits the reset button like some fresh air. Disconnecting and checking in with nature is always a way to feel adventurous (and often free!). Find a nature preserve, hiking trail, or park and go out an adventure.
10. Act like you are on vacation
Who says you have to hop on a plane to be in vacation mode? Take that vacation mindset in your area. Go out to eat, visit the main sites, have a camera strapped around your neck and pictures. You’ll convince yourself you are on vacation in no time!

Another affordable travel idea is to visit a museum. Museums are valuable resources and places we often visit on vacation. There are many museums types and sizes! Find one that interests you and take a visit. You too can also get a friend or stranger to take a derpy picture of you in front of an artwork as a keepsake.
12. Search upcoming events around you
Don’t be that person who misses that cool event. Some travel from all over to participate in these once-a-year occasions. It could be a cool music festival, food tasting, or concert. Make sure you know what’s ahead.
13. Take a long walk and take in your surroundings
We often are going from Point A to B and not truly taking in our surroundings or appreciating what is in front of us. Take a long walk (at least 30 minutes) and focus on taking in what is around you. Notice the building details, hidden pockets of nature, people watch. Mentally take note of what you see. You will notice that you will quiet the things you worry about and shift your mind to just focus on the now
14. Spend the night in a hotel or Air BnB
Sometimes all it takes is sleeping somewhere different. Check into a hotel or cool Air BnB solo or with some friends. Stay right downtown, in a different neighborhood, or in a more remote place.
15. Investigate your curiosities
Always pass by this coffee shop that has local bands play? Or the restaurant with adorable outdoor seating? What about that local store with unique items? You make a mental note you should check it out, but you never do. Well now is your chance!
16. Search for hidden gems in your area
Find those hidden gems! Ask others or search online what people think are those unique underrated places.

Some fun attractions are not too far. Check out some recommended day trips near you.
18. Have a sleepover with a friend
Oh, what fun it is! Do something in the/evening and then sleepover… sounds like similar things you with do with a friend…. if you were on VACATION.
19. Visit Relatives
Visiting relatives is a great way to check out a different scene and connect with the ol’ fam. You’ll likely get free accommodation. Score. Bonus points if they live in a cool city or by the beach.
20. Go on a photoshoot
You always take photos on vacation.. why not take photos where you are? Grab your camera and snap away. Feel a little silly? Act like you are on an important photoshoot. You can end up with some cool photos that can turn into artwork for your home.
